Stuttgart/Berlin – Mercedes-Benz Vans has won prizes for its innovative digital concepts at the PR Report Awards and German Digital Award 2015. The "Chris Morrin Show" from the Mercedes-Benz "MYVAN" YouTube channel took home the PR Report Award in the subcategory "Corporate Media – digital" at the presentation ceremony in Berlin. In addition, the internet microsite "Der neue Vito. Transportgut: Action!" won bronze at the German Digital Award in Berlin in the category "Digital Advertising Formats – Microsite/Campaign Site".
"Chris Morrin Show" on YouTube wins over the PR Report Awards judges with a fresh take on Mercedes-Benz Vans
The video blogger's show, which was developed by the agency "fischerAppelt, play" for the MYVAN platform of Mercedes-Benz Vans, won over the PR Report Awards judges with its fresh take on complex topics such as ESP and Collision Prevention Assist.
In his fast-paced clips, Chris Morrin, the host of the show, presents the diverse world of commercial vehicles in an entertaining and easy-to-follow manner. The result is a unique tutorial on the world of commercial vehicles. The format has so far achieved a total of more than one million views on YouTube alone. The "Chris Morrin Show" enabled Mercedes-Benz Vans to become the first commercial-vehicle manufacturer to permanently establish itself in the category of YouTube series.
Since 2003, the PR Report Awards have been presented in Berlin in recognition of the best campaigns as well as the most successful teams and individuals from the communication industry. The PR Report Awards 2015 were open to companies and communication agencies in 29 competition categories. The panel of around 30 judges included clients, agencies and service providers from the industry.
Microsite of new Vito on YouTube wins bronze at German Digital Award 2015
With the internet microsite "Der neue Vito. Transportgut: Action!" Mercedes-Benz Vans also won bronze at the German Digital Award 2015 in the category "Digital Advertising Formats – Microsite/Campaign Site". The concept was developed by the agency SYZYGY Deutschland GmbH in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Vans.
The digital campaign for the new Vito was set up where the users already are – on YouTube. Between enthralling action shots and dramatically frozen stills, the site highlights the features of the new Vito interactively and with the use of visual information. On a dedicated Mercedes-Benz Vans YouTube brand tab, the microsite shows the three new Vito models on a dynamic journey through the port while presenting various scenes from working life. At the start of each feature sequence, users are given the opportunity to navigate the available information according to their own personal preferences and to experience the details of the new Vito. Afterwards, a magazine section offers a summary of the main highlights.
The microsite for the new Vito was one of a total of 445 entries in the ten main categories for this year's German Digital Award. Rated as an industry benchmark, the award is presented in recognition of not just creative digital work, but also versatility and realisation. Under the patronage of the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW), the German Digital Award is the successor to DMMA OnlineStar.
