The new transmission drives like an automatic transmission, but unlike a fully automatic torque converter transmission, it makes for lower consumption figures and therefore lower exhaust emissions. The double-clutch transmission is an automated manual transmission.

  • Kawasaki, Japan, Apr 22, 2010 - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) today unveiled the new generation of the Fuso Super Great. Because it features the 6R10 engine with BlueTec technology, the Fuso Super Great is MFTBC’s first truck to comply with what is currently the world’s most stringent emissions standard, JP09 (Japan New Long-Term Emission Regulation).   • Moscow, Russia, Apr 20, 2010 - Daimler Trucks today announced the start of production of the Fuso Canter truck in Russia. The 7.5-ton truck produced by the joint venture Fuso Kamaz Trucks Rus (FKTR) is being presented to Russian trade visitors for the first time at the Comtrans trade show for commercial vehicles, which is being held in Moscow from April 20 to 24, 2010. Sales will start in June.

  • London, Apr 15, 2010 - The half-way stage has been reached in the fleet trial of the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid in the London area. Since August 2008 ten light-duty trucks fitted with an innovative hybrid drive have covered around 263,700 km in eight fleets operated by Daimler Trucks customer’s. This trial forms part of Daimler Trucks’ global initiative entitled "Shaping Future Transportation". The aim of this initiative is to turn the zero-emission commercial vehicle of tomorrow into reality with efficient and clean drive systems and alternative fuels.

  • London, Mar 29, 2010 - The halfway stage has been reached in the fleet trial of the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid in the London area. Since August 2008, ten light-duty trucks equipped with hybrid drive systems have clocked around 265,000 km in eight fleets operated by customers. The vehicles are in service every day and travel between 400 and 2,800 km each month. The trial for the model under European conditions, which is scheduled to run for three years, is part of Daimler Trucks’ “Shaping Future Transportation” global initiative, the goal of which is to turn the zero-emission commercial vehicle of tomorrow into a reality by means of efficient and clean drive systems and alternative fuels.

After years of record sales, the sharp decline hit Europe at the beginning of 2009. The North American truck market once again contracted significantly last year, while the structural downward trend continued on the Japanese truck market, with the situation there exacerbated by the global economic crisis.

  • Kawasaki, Japan, Mar 4, 2010 - The Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid light-duty truck will soon be found in the streets of Hong Kong. On February 27, MFTBC began taking orders for the environmentally friendly truck in Hong Kong through Universal Cars Limited (UCL), the Mitsubishi Fuso distributor in the Chinese special administrative region. With this step, MFTBC is substantially expanding its international business with the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid truck. Following the recently announced orders from Ireland and Australia, Hong Kong is now the third market for hybrid trucks outside the company’s home market of Japan.

  • Kawasaki, Japan, Feb 17, 2010 - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, announced today that it will make its largest delivery of hybrid trucks outside Japan. The customer is Star Track Express, an express freight company that has its headquarters in Gordon near Sydney. The 25 vehicles are already scheduled to be delivered to Australia by the end of March.

  • Stuttgart, Feb 9, 2010 - From February 2010 the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter comes with EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle) compliance as standard and therefore offers even greater environmental compatibility (through a reduction in particulate emissions of some 30 %, for example) than the existing Euro 5 engine range. As all the engine variants comply with the new standard – from the 96-kW (130-hp) version to the 107-kW (145-hp) unit right up to the new 129-kW (175-hp) engine – all vehicles ordered from November 2009 come with it.

  • Tramagal, Portugal, Feb 3, 2010 - 30 years ago, the first Fuso Canter rolled off the production line in Tramagal. Located 150 kilometers northeast of Lisbon, the plant in Tramagal was opened in 1964 by a Portuguese-French joint venture for the production of vehicles for the Portuguese army. In 1990, the Portuguese importing firm Mitsubishi Motors Portugal (MMP) acquired the plant, and in 1996 Mitsubishi Motors Corporation decided to concentrate the production of the Canter truck for Europe in Tramagal. Since 2003, the Fuso Canter is part of the Daimler Trucks product portfolio.

  • Stuttgart, Feb 2, 2010 - Daimler Trucks is supporting the people of Haiti, the Caribbean island that has been hard-hit by the recent earthquakes, by promptly sending them 20 Fuso Canter trucks worth over half a million euros. The trucks were handed over to the Haiti aid initiative of former US President Bill Clinton. Clinton had already presented this project last week at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

  • Kawasaki, Japan, Oct 14, 2009 - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has sold ten hybrid trucks to an Irish company. The Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid is the first series-production hybrid truck to be sold in Europe. The customer is Ireland’s leading utility company, the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) in Dublin. ESB plans to use the vehicles for customer service and for infrastructure maintenance in Ireland. The Irish Government has granted a special permit for the Japanese hybrid trucks.

  • London/Stuttgart, Aug 12, 2008 - Today, Daimler AG launched Europe’s largest fleet test of hybrid trucks by presenting ten Fuso Canter Eco Hybrids to eight customers in London. The goals of the three-year test are to gain new insights into the use of 7.5-ton hybrid trucks by customers and to demonstrate the diesel-electric hybrid drive's high level of efficiency. The Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid could consume up to 15 percent less fuel than conventional diesel vehicles, and the hybrid truck’s CO2 emissions are therefore decreased correspondingly as well.

  • Stuttgart/Berlin, May 29, 2007 - DaimlerChrysler’s German Sales Organization (DCVD) will assume control of wholesale operations in Germany for the Mitsubishi Fuso brand on June 1, 2007, taking over this responsibility from the Mitsubishi Motors Deutschland (MMD) import company. MMD’s existing Mitsubishi Fuso sales network will be integrated into DCVD, thereby making the brand’s vehicles available at a total of 80 authorized dealers, 17 of which are DaimlerChrysler outlets, with the other 63 operated by contract partners.
